Mealhada/Pampilhosa

Just after Valouro’s first manufacturing plant kicked off and as a result of its fast growth in the feedstuffs market, Rações Valouro felt the need to open a commercial warehouse, in the central region of Portugal, where is still settled one of the highest concentration of poultry production farms. After evaluating several factors involved and reached a business agreement with the Portuguese Railways Company, we decided to locate our first warehouse in Mealhada, right next to this village railway station and in 1984 opens its doors to the public.

The initial target set by the Company’s Board was 200 t/month. Yet, one year after starting its activity, we reached the amazing out coming of 3,500 t/month. In 1991, Rações Valouro felt the need of building a new warehouse and decides to make it in the industrial district of Canedo, Mealhada, close to a main road - IC1, but keeping the straight access to the railway transport, which goes into our warehouse facilities.

Nowadays, Mealhada handles more than of 10.000 t/month (bulk and packaged feed). The most significant feedstuffs sales are for poultry namely: meat chickens, free range chickens, parent hens, and also for dairy cows and beef cattle.
